The story behind the innovation

From Mpumalanga and Tembisa to a connected African technology ecosystem.

TechTuned was founded by two young visionaries united by a shared passion for technology and a desire to see black children from villages and townships become digitally literate, future-ready and empowered.

Where it started

A shared purpose larger than software.

The story began with two different places and one shared concern: too many talented young people were being left outside the digital economy because of where they came from, the resources around them or the opportunities available to them.

From the villages of Mpumalanga and the township of Tembisa, Kenneth Culu and Elton Mamabolo understood that access to technology could change the direction of a young person's life. They saw technology not only as a career field, but as a practical tool for learning, confidence, problem-solving, entrepreneurship and community development.

TechTuned was shaped by the need to close the gap between education and industry, between talent and opportunity, and between technology access and community development. The work grew from building digital solutions into building a full ecosystem where people can learn, apply their skills, create products and extend opportunity to others.

The foundation

Three ideas continue to guide the journey.

These principles from the company story shape how TechTuned leads, trains, builds and serves.

01

Leadership

Leading with vision and integrity to create lasting impact, while building responsibly for the people and organisations we serve.

02

Youth empowerment

Equipping young minds with practical skills, confidence, experience and access to meaningful opportunity.

03

Digital access

Bridging the digital divide so that villages, townships and under-resourced communities are not excluded from the future.

Leadership

Two directors. One shared vision.

The company profile presents TechTuned as a story of collaboration between leaders shaped by different communities but united by the same purpose.

How the story grew

From an idea to an ecosystem.

The journey expanded because training, innovation and impact cannot solve the opportunity gap in isolation.

01

Recognise the gap

See the distance between talent and opportunity, especially in villages, townships and under-resourced communities.

02

Build practical skills

Help learners move from consuming technology to understanding, using and creating with it.

03

Apply skills to real work

Turn learning into websites, platforms, products, data tools and solutions for real organisations.

04

Expand access

Use partnerships, community programmes and impact initiatives to open the pipeline to more people.

We want to see the black child from the villages and townships alike become digitally literate, confident, capable and ready for the future.
